Naz Ritchie

M.Eng. P.Eng.

Naz leads Peritus Environmental Consultants Inc. as its President. With over 25 years of professional environmental engineering experience across government and private sectors, her specialties encompass a wide spectrum, including environmental site assessments, environmental compliance permitting, risk assessments, designated substance surveys, solid waste management, detailed design, municipal infrastructure, and asset management.

Naz holds a B.A.Sc. degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo and an M.Eng. degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Guelph. Her role includes senior review, implementing exceptional quality assurance and control (QA/QC) to maintain the highest standards across operations and financial management.

When Naz takes a break from her dedicated work, she cherishes spending quality time with her family, including her husband, two wonderful kids, and her playful dog. Her commitment to both her professional and personal life exemplifies her dedication and balanced approach to leadership.

Erin Janzen

B.Sc., QPRA

Erin serves as both Operations Manager and Senior Project Manager at Peritus Environmental. With an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science (Ecology Specialization) from the University of Waterloo and a graduate certificate in Environmental Management and Assessment, Erin has a wealth of knowledge.

With over 15 years of experience, Erin specializes in complex risk assessments and strategic remediation. Recognized as a Qualified Person (Risk Assessment) by the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks, she coordinates RA projects, assesses risks to human and ecological receptors and conducts thorough risk calculations. Erin’s influence extends to vapour intrusion assessments. She is a member of the Association of Vapour Intrusion Professionals, where she contributes to refining assessment techniques and practices.

Erin is a passionate world traveller, a certified scuba diving professional and is well-regarded for her welcoming and approachable demeanor.

Katherine
Shantz

B.Sc., M.A.E.E., QPRA

Katherine is a Risk Assessment Manager at Peritus and brings over 15 years of experience in environmental site assessments, environmental compliance permitting, risk assessments, and remediation projects. With an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science (Ecology Specialization) from the University of Waterloo and a Master of Arts in Environmental Education from Goshen College, Katherine’s foundation spans biology, chemistry, and geology.

Her work experience compliments her education, including assessing toxicological reference values for RAs. Recognized as a Qualified Person (Risk Assessment) by the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks, Katherine contributes her extensive experience to diverse soil and groundwater remediation projects, focusing on Phase Two ESAs and RAs.

Katherine’s enthusiasm for gardening and nature photography is equally evident in her role as a mentor to junior staff and students, making her a remarkable asset to the team.

Jonathan Sampath

BES., C.Tech

Jonathan joined the C3 Group in 2017 with C3 Environmental and later joined the Peritus team in 2018. He is a Designated Substance and Hazardous Material specialist. He is a Project Manager and holds a Bachelor of Environmental Studies from the University of Waterloo and a graduate certificate in Environmental Engineering Applications from Conestoga College. Jon is a Certified Technician through OACETT and specializes in Designated Substance Surveys and Environmental Site Assessments.

Beyond his technical expertise, Jonathan is known for his charismatic and approachable nature. With a passion for cars and technology, he embodies Peritus’ commitment to innovation and collaboration.
